Steyn Studio
We are London-based international design studio founded by South African–born architect Coetzee Steyn in 2016, evolving from Steyncolab, established five years earlier.
Our work spans architecture, objects, and experiences, united by a belief that design has the power to deepen our relationship with place, culture, and nature. Since the studio’s inception, our projects have been widely published and recognised with numerous awards, including the Bosjes Chapel (2017) — a pivotal work that helped shape our conceptual trajectory — alongside projects such as the Garden Café and the Oxford Conservatory.
We are interested in work that carries meaning beyond function: design that is rooted in context and history, yet open to experimentation and future thinking. Whether a home, a public building, or a designed object, our aim is to create environments and experiences that resonate emotionally as well as perform practically.
As a collaborative studio, we value dialogue, curiosity, and craft. We work rigorously and imaginatively to realise architecture and design that matters — to those who live with it, encounter it, and invest in it.
Past and Current Collaborators include: Catalin Filip, James Jackson, Pedro Lopez, Sergio Soria, Dave Sacks, Kate Carpenter, Katja Lezczynska, Maripaz Muñoz, Inaki Ahechu.
